A favorite leather sneaker of many of our customers who are on their feet all day, the New Balance 624 cross-trainer has been discontinued by New Balance.

With its IMEVA cushioning, internal shank and flexible non-marking sole, the all black style offered durable comfort and casual looks for those in the restaurant, service and retail industries. The vintage white leather and blue N 'Dad' shoe  style has a Medicare/HCPCS code of A5500, which may be eligible for Medicare reimbursement.

These best selling NB shoes were produced in the longest sizes and widest widths on the market; XX-Wide 6E for men up to size 20 and 4E size 13 for women.

What replaces the New Balance 624 and comes in 4E XX-wide?

The current inline replacement to the MX624 cross-training shoes would be the Industrial 626, the skid proof industrial version of that style available in both men (up to 6E width) and women (up to 2E) sizes.

We also recommend the 608 cross-training series, AKA 'The Dad Shoe'. We regularly have New Balance remake the original MX608WT that came before the MX624.  Many of our customers prefer the original 608 to the 624, we sell many more of those than the 624 to people who have tried both, so we have the shoes made 2,500 pairs at a time. The MX608WT is available in the men's 4E XX-Wide width.

The 608 cross-trainer series has been updated 5 times since it came out. The current 2023 version is called V5 for Version 5.  That style is available in white, black, gray suede, navy suede and brown suede. Those styles all end in the number 5.  The all black is the MX608AB5, the white is MX608AW5, and the Suede versions are MX608UG5 (gray), MX608UN5 (navy) and MX608UB5 (brown).  All of these shoes are available in the 4E XX-Wide width.

I always purchased New Balance 624 4E shoes for years. What has replaced them that comes in a 4E width option?
