Discontinued NB SL-2 Running Shoes

Some of our customers' favorite SL-2 Running shoes have been phased out: the Stability 940 designed for overpronators and the Neutral Cushioning 840.

The New Balance 940 series ended with the 940v4, while the New Balance 840 Running series, not to be confused with the Walking 840,  ended with the 840v5.

If your size is still in stock today, it's probably a good idea to get a pair, or two, as there is no guarantee these styles will be available when you need them.

Have been using women's New Balance 940 running shoes for years. Have been the best fit for me (11aa). Now I understand this shoe is discontinued. I need a stability shoe. Have tried 1540 - very stiff, poor arch support & 860 - Too wide.

What do you suggest for a women's 11 2A stability shoe?

Hi;
The 940 runs much wider than the 860. I'm very surprised to hear you tried a narrow width 860 and found them too wide.
However, if that's the case, the shoe we would recommend trying is the New Balance 990. The 990 Version 5 has slightly more support than the Version 6, so we would recommend trying the Version 5 while your size is still available.

If you can wear a leather shoe then there are some more choices, our favorite with the best support would be the cross-training New Balance WX857.
