NB's new top-of-the-line running shoe

A full length ABZORB® strobel board combined with ABZORB® FL and an Ortholite® insert ensures a comfortable, cushioned ride, while an NLOCK® support system provides enhanced mid-foot structure, and an Ndurance® heel crash pad offers durability. A BIOCOOL Phantom Liner™ offers moisture management and blister-free comfort, and the New Balance SURE LACE™ keeps shoes tied. 360º reflectivity ensures safety during early morning and evening runs. The 1906 is built on New Balance's new PL-1 performance last which provides a more formfitting feel with a more streamlined look.
The First Shoe Tested in New Balance Sports Research Lab
The 1906 was the first New Balance shoe to undergo all of its testing in the recently opened New Balance Sports Research Lab. Lab testing and research helped shape the design of each iteration of the 1906 to ensure it had optimal cushioning and stability while being perceived as best in class in performance.
Located in Lawrence, MA the New Balance Sports Research lab focuses on technology and product testing, innovation, research, and education. The modern, new 3,000 square foot facility houses state-of-the-art biomechanics equipment, office space, a 120 foot running track, 30' by 30' court, "Smash" Lab and equipment including an 8 Qualisys Motion Capture System, a Glass Top Kistler Force Plate, and an MTS System. Additional testing equipment includes: in-shoe pressure sensors, a multi-surface treadmill, a portable basketball hoop, temperature sensors, velocity sensors, a portable force plate, an Electromyography System, and impact and flex testers.
PS: 1906 is the year New Balance was founded in Boston as the New Balance Arch Support Company. This shoe is still being assembled in the USA.
